lemme see if i got this right here...

3.14(B/2)squaredSC

so if my 258 needs bored .60 over...and the stock bore is 3.75 and the stroke is 3.90

so the new bore at .60 over...which i have to go...is 4.35

4.35/2=2.175x2.175=4.73x3.14=14.85x3.90=57.92x6=347

err...that seems a bit high...someone else wanna check that for me?

no that can;t be right...almost 100 cubic inches from a 60 over bore...no...can;t be...

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Will it ever quit snowing???

3.810/2=1.905x1.905=3.63x3.14=11.398x3.90=44.452x6=266.713

tha looks better...

now that i have learned to add...

Anyone seen this?

Hi-Ya OhioMike,

Using the data you supplied, I calculated 266.78 cubic inches.

(The overbore is likely 0.060 rather than 0.60. I doubt that a cylinder of any engine could be enlarged by 6/10 of an inch.

If the resultant increase in displacement seems large, keep in mind that the displacement of a cylinder varies as the square of the increase in bore (radius).

(Because of the squared-term in the equation.)

If you want play with a nifty on-line engine displacement calculator as a check, go here:

(Slow web-site.)

Regards,

Sometimes bore-ing, never stroking, but occasionally exponential,
