Speaking of lights, tailgate light???

Anyone with a new TJ notice that lack of a switch that makes the dome light come on when the tailgate is open?? It's silly! I have to open a door and the tailgate to get light to unload my rear. Does yours do that??

ITS A JEEP!

Pin switches in the tailgate? Man next they'll want power steering and air conditioning!

Whew.

Spoiled TJ owners. hehehehe Man come ride with me a mile or two and I will show what a true Jeep is like. No interior lights, no radio, some of the dash lights work but I have em hooked up to a toggle switch, The air leaks will over power the heat on a cold night, Their is matching rust holes on both front fenders, and you are worried about lights coming on when you open the tail gate, hehehehehe What fun. tug

I hate to even say this, but...

My 85 CJ-7 does have a pin switch in the tub that actuates when the tailgate is opened.

The hardtop interior rear dome light and all of the interior courtesy lights turn on when the tailgate is dropped.

That tailgate actuated pin switch appears to be an OEM switch, but who knows with a 18-year old Jeep?

Maybe my CJ has that switch because it is a rare "Bubbacon" edition.

Wellllllllllllllllllll thank ya guys. LOL I know I know, I want it ALL. A rugged offroad machine that gives me luxuries on the road. That is why I bought a new TJ. I just can't believe they installed A/C, etc. on a jeep that doesn't have a light switch on all the doors. Even crappy cars have that. Oh well, just wondered!

Hello LJF,

My wife's Honda Civic (I know...but she LOVES that car.) does not have a trunk light.

For a quick fix, I velcro taped one of those round "push-on/push-off" flashlight battery powered lights to the underside of the trunk lid.

Perhaps something like that could be put into the back end of your Jeep. Inexpensive and no wiring required.

Regards,

My dome light doesn't come on when any of my doors on my TJ are open let alone the tailgate. However this my be due to the fact that I pulled the fuse so that when I ride with the doors off the light stays off. I just never took the time to replace it when I put the doors and hardtop on
