Squeaky clutch or susp.?

When I go over a bump in the rode, the left-front side squeaks. I thought the push rod for the clutch might have been rubbing against the side of the hole in the floor and maybe that was squeaking. I put some pretty good lubricant on it though, and it still makes the "chirp/squeak" sound. The other thing I was thinking is that maybe somewhere the linkage is loose, but I couldn't see anything that looked out of place. Do you have any ideas (clutch, suspension, etc...)? It's not a big problem, but it sounds kind of cheap, and more importantly I'm a little nervous that it's an indication of a bigger problem that I just haven't found. I appreciate any advice you might have.

Thanks

check your bushings for wear . i have a 4x s-10 and the bushings have started to dry rot. i just get under and spray a aerosol lubricant on the bushings that i have isolated and think they are the ones that are makeing the noise. after some movement the ssqeaking stops til it gets wet and then dries out . i would bet it is a suspension squeak. there are more bushings under there than you think .odax  [addsig]

Get a grease gun and crawl under the front of your jeep or put it up in the air if at all possible and search for all the grease zirks you can find and grease them. It sounds like the bushings in your front end haven't been greased in a while so don't hold back on the grease. Also while your under there make sure tie rods and things like that aren't loose. Hope this helps Evan[addsig]

Your leaf springs may be the cause of the squeek if there are no friction-pads between them. My AAL's squeek occasionally and I'll pry them apart and add a little grease to the ends.[addsig]

in addition to greasing all the bushings see if the body mounts are ok. also check that the engine or exhaust isnt rubbing somewhere[addsig]

I have the EXACT same problem. It doesn't seem to happen all the time...some times I cruise over a speed bump without a problem, and sometimes I get that very same rubbing squeaky sound. My TJ is a '98, I guess the bushings could've dry rotted...but 5 years? [addsig]
