I own a 1998 jeep grand cherokee laredo. its a 4.0 with a straight 6 cyl. Earlier this week I was driving and suddenly it started to run rough for a second and then shut off. after 2 or 3 tries it started right up and drove off. It has done this a couple times since. what could be some of the posible problems. my mechanic is closed til monday so i cant get a diagnostic run on it.

sounds like vapor lock put couple cloths pins on feul line open gas cap release any back presure see if its any better than befor

turns out, i need a new computer. my mechanic says i had a faulty cat converter and that not all the heat was escaping and it was backing up into my system. so i replaced my cat converter and muffler, replaced my ignition coil, repaced all my spark plugs and plug wires, replaced my distributer cap and rotor. none of which seemed to help. the only options i have left are the fuel pump and computer. does anyone know where i can get a cheap computer, and is it possible to replace it myself? where is it located in my car?
