still no 4x4

i posted on here before about no 4x4 and got some good ideas but i changed out the vacuum lines that go to the front axle because one was broken and the stock connecter didnt stay on very well with some new lines and still no 4x4 is how do i check to see if the shift motor is good on the axle or can anyone think of any other reasons why it might not work it feels like it goes in but just no front wheel spin its an 89 cherokee auto /231 case

Pull the 4 bolts holding the disconnect to the front axle. Only a small amount of gear oil will leak out. You can then try to move the shift fork by hand, and try it letting the vacuum do the work.

If the fork moves freely by hand but the vacuum will not move it, could be a bad vacuum switch on the transfer case. It's an easy switch to replace, just follow the vacuum lines to the transfer case.
