If your body is rusted that bad, I would assume you have rust other places as well. If you have the $$ I would almost recommend buying a new fiberglass tub. i have seen them from JCWhitney for around $1100. I know that sounds steep, but think of it this way- The time you spend cuttin, grindin, weldin, grindin, body fillin, paintin, sandin and paintin again, you could have just junked it all and bought a tub you won't have to worry about rustin out on you again!![addsig]

Have you taken the time to really look at the frame. Look at everything before you go for the fix it might be cheaper to sale er than keep er. There ore other jeeps out there no in such need maybe? Good Luck Tug[addsig]

How easy is it to replace the tub with a fiberglass one. I am pretty good mechanically but am no expert. I am looking at an 85 CJ7 that I can pick up cheap but needs body work. It has fallen victim to living in NY. Whats the word[addsig]

the frame is ok its the body that has a crack about 4 or 5 inches long just under the antena. i thick it is fixable but can it be cut out being so close to were the fender is bolted to the tub. the crack is rusted all the way through and the water comes in and fills up the floor boardes[addsig]

I agree with Crazy-Canuk...for now i would fill it with the foam...it comes in a red aerosol can and is called "Great Stuff" it's originally for house hold insulation but it does the trick temporarily...Oh and it definetly won't be pretty...But it held on my CJ for about a year (through a NY winter) til i could get my hands on a welder and some surplus sheet metal. But any way you put it...i don't think you'll have an easy time keeping that body together if it's cracked that far. Even my cj is showing signs of re-cracking just under the jeep logo and door frame (this area is harshly prone to rust throughs) Even after adding 1/8" sheet metal and a strong weld. But like i said foam is a good protection from the elements and mud if your a neat freak. [addsig]
