Tailgate says "Cherokee" on my Wagoneer.

1979 Wagoneer.

Did all of them say "Cherokee" on the tailgate? Or, has my tailgate been replaced?

Actually, I need to take some pics of my toy to post 'em up. I'll do that today and post pics of this tailgate as well.

Cherokee was a package available for the Wagoneer back in the day. Is it a 2-door? I think it may have the wide-track axles also, especially if it has the wide fender flares. Wider than a standard Waggy.

4-door. I posted pics in the General forum- Waggy pics.

Edit- Hmpf...that's odd. On this edit screen I do not see "a few pics of my Wagoneer" in the link after it says "Waggy pics." But, for some reason it is showing up when I save the message. Weird. I'm trying to edit that out of the link, but it is simply NOT there to edit out. I've reloaded the edit screen a few times now.

Edit 2- LOL...I get it!!! Because I'm linking to a thread, the forum software is automatically inserting the thread title.

My first 4 door with solid roof waas a '75 Wagoneer. The old '62 body style was assembled from two thin sheets of steel to aid rigidity and save cost, however, it trapped moisture between the sheets and the inevitable oxidation occurred. Mine had severe oxidation in the tail gate at the bottom where it connects to the hinges. Many others of that generation also had similar iron oxide deposits in place of the original steel.
Many body parts including the tail gate were interchangeable between the 2 door Cherokee model and the 4 door Wagoneer model. I think someone has changed your tail gate and failed to change the badge.
