Tax man cometh...lift qustions

I missed my chance last year, not again...

Can i put coil spacers on over my 2" procomp lift ? I want atleast 4" ...maybe 5 (if 1" body)... Rusty's has 2-4" adjustable spacers. For 200 bones , seems like a deal if they can adjust from 2 to 4 inches ... I want to avoid a body lift..and save money if at all possible

A 4" susp lift will be a last option (but its still an option , Id like a BDS they seem highly reagarded here)..the more I eat up the more leverage the woman has...because I need tires also... Which is taller 33x10.5 or 12.5?

What else do I need for a 98 TJ (automatic) 4" lift ? I know a TC drop.. and...
?

Ill be calling Rusty tommorow to see what is his cheapest solution.. just needed more helpful info.

RE: Where Has Been Special_K?

To do it right and to keep good steering and driveline geometry you'll need a TC drop, F&R lower control arms and maybe pinion angle cam bolts for them, longer F&R swaybar links (or disconnects), longer shocks, a drop pitman arm, and probably trackbar relocation brackets or even better an adjustable trackbar.

I'd just buy a complete kit and sell your old springs if you want to go higher. You'll spend twice as much buying everything seperately. I know 'cause that's what I ended up doing when I combined a 3" lift with a 2" BB on my XJ. I tried to do it on the cheap but in the long run I'd have saved alot of money buying a complete 4.5" lift.

Look at the list of hardware that comes with most 4" lifts:
http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/jeep_TJ.htm

At least you should be able to recoup some cash by selling your old kit.

You'll want the 10.50 widthe for a 7" wheel or a stock wheel. A 12.50 width for a 8" wheel with a little less backspacing than the stock wheels.

I would go with the BDS. They're highly regarded everywhere and have an unbeatable guarantee. I had a 2" BDS before installing my 4" Skyjacker. The Skyjacker was slightly softer but the BDS will give more for your hard earned money.

Consider your wheel combination. You may not be happy with 10" width tires. A set of Cregar Black steel wheels are about $30 each. A 10" rim will make those 33 X 12.5 look nice and fat.

These are old 32" I bought 2nd hand just for the hell of it,

Ive decided on a supsension lift.. I checked out some post and seen a Hell Creek 4" susp.... seems reasonable $460 (no pitman arm, but they are only the next state over from me)... Rusty's 4" is really a 3" with a body lift lift (not what I want) .. $560 ...

Can anyone compare BDS with the Hell Creek lift? (black D is only 3" )
(hellcreeksuspension.com)

Is BDS same as Black Diamond?

As for rims, I have M/T 15x8's already. I have mud kings now and they have worn out pretty fast.... suggestions? priced under $150! ..(cheaper the better ..only in the mud for hunting season)

That willys is clean, RITT

Yeah, that's an awesome Jeep! I like it even better with the Swampers.

The Skyjacker was slightly softer but the BDS will give more for your hard earned money.

Yeah Ritt, but that's comparing a 4" spring to a 2" spring.....The 2" should ride better, but the Skyjacker STILL wins.

BDS is Black Diamond Suspension.
Simply false. BDS is Big D i c k's Suspensions and they are not related to black diamond.

BDS does not make a 4" kit for a TJ though, only 3" or smaller.

Have you considered Rubicon Express? they have a 3.5" kit which is a great kit for 33's. $599 shipped to your door with shocks (good shocks) here:
http://www.jeepinoutfitters.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=133

The free shipping should have it compete with what you were looking at price wise but RE is top quality and will give a great ride and flex.

"These kits include front and rear coil springs, front and rear track rod
brackets, front and rear lower control arms, transfer case lowering kit with
shift bracket, sway bar links, pitman arm, shocks and black boots.

Thanks,

This was in the email I got today.. $460 (even has some control arms)... $540 w/ better shocks...

What else do I need to purchase?

Do I need shift bracket for automatic trans ? ($57 from skyjacker)

RE: i

You need a drop bracket for the transfer case linkage, nothing for the auto transmission that I know of.

Good choice on getting a 4" kit, it'll be more complete and you can sell the 2" springs.

You can simply redrill the lower mount for the front track bar, don't try to use a bracket and you can save the money from an Adj. track bar and reuse the stock one.

not to hijack but...

i love your willys ritt, i would love to get one one day and restore it to near new, id do some stuff to it, not make it huge or anything, just good enough for some light trail use. was it hard to get it back to what you have it as?

RE: i

i wish i was not so far in the hole that my tax return was spent before i get it
