My reverse gear always seems to pop out can't hold it in it will still pop and force itself out and grind like a mofo, i figred it out recnetly my body lift has thrown it off proportion and couldn't back back into gear cause of body stopping it, so i shaved it and it works lil beter but its not how it should be, you all reccomend rebuilding the T5, is it worth it, or is T5 pretty weak..i have dana 300 cj7 258 or just get a different better trannY whats ur opinions

if you can deal with a 4 speed the t176 is a good replacement, it bolts right up to the 258 and the d300

If you can't trim the body back then heat the shifter handle and bend it a little. You have to decide if the real problem is the body or the transmission.

I had the same problem on my YJ and I dont know if this will help. But on my shifter boot there is a metal wring around the bottom that the screws go through you can either trim up that metal part or you can move the shifter boot back a little to get more clearance.

I wouldn't rebuild a T5. In my opinion, it's a turd that should have NEVER been installed in a Jeep.......but then again, half of ALL Jeep drivetrain parts should have never been installed in a Jeep :roll:

The thing that makes a T5 seem so appealing is the first gear ratio and the overdrive. The overdrive is nice, but the slightly lower first gear looks better on paper than in the real world. A T-176 4speed is the best bolt-in you have available in a manual. The TF999 will hold up better though, if you wanted to run an automatic.

so t176 4 speed is only availble option that is medium duty, there i assume here isn't much of any 5 speed choice again

It's not the only option, but it's the only BOLT IN manual option that's worth doing. IMHO
