Transmition Slipping?

So some times when i start from a standstill, it feels like the transmission is slipping (that is the best description that I can think of) Then it will grab after a very short period of time. What the hell is wrong with my car?

Auto or manual? And what sort of/year vehicle? I don't know too much about transmission, except that it is very, very, very hard to kill the automatic (AX-14?) transmission that comes with the newer I-6 in the XJ...

Mine was shifting wicked rough, and for whatever reason, did not want to hold in park... A trans flush made it happy again. Don't know how much that affected anything, like I said, transmissions are not my strong point...

sorry, i forgot to include all that. I have a 94 Grand Cherokee ZJ limited with the 4.0 and its an automatice, it has the select track 4 weel

The problem is that your jeep has heard you refer to it as a car one too many times and has decided to take a dump on you.

Have you changed the transmission fluid and filter? I'd start there. Also check into a power flush at a oilchange shop where they do it all through the filler tube. This could dislodge any clutch band material that commonly blocks passages in the transmission.

RE: Re: Transmition Slipping?

Fluid level and or transmission filter are the most common reasons for that. Mine leaks about a pint about every month and when I dont check it a while like I know I should I will the same thing you just described.

Hi,

Maybe your torque converter is malfunctioning?

Checked the fluid level? What color is the fluid? Smell burnt at all?

Sounds pressure related. Have you done a filter change yet?
