Weatherstrip question

Any tips on installing the piece that goes on the door against the window on an 89 YJ? There are 4 clips that are supposed to go into 4 slots on the door, but they are VERY tight. When I opened them up a bit. they went on but got pulled out so they were too loose.

Your not supposed to alter the clips when you install them. It's supposed to be tight to install so that the clips expand in the holes when you push it in all the way.

So how do you push those tight suckers in? I assume you can do it with the window fully down.

I did mine with the windows down and with a convincing grunt and it went in.

So you just held the weatherstriping over the slots and pushed straight down and the pins went in?

They are flat clips that goes into an elongated hole on the door. You would have to push down at an angle towards the hole so that the entire clip slides in and locks.

I finally got them in-I used a small blade and pulled the slotted holes towards the glass a little to make it easier to fit the tabs in, then I ran a thin bead of silicone under the outer edge of the rubber (my Jeep vibrates a lot).
