Wiring: New lights mounted on window

I have two lights that I have mounted on the window post hinges. Now need to figure the best way to run the wires into the cab. Nervious about driling but . . . anyone have done this and have some advise? thanks, Spiritree

I don't think I drilled at all. Take the cowling (vent under windshield) off and route the wires thru there. I ran it into the engine compartment via the top where the cowling meets the firewall. From there just run it thru the existing wiring hole where the rest of the wires come out. I'll see if I can take some good pictures and post them. YOu'll have to take my word on the cowling portion because that was a pain in the ass and I don't want to take it off again.

Any pictures? I put my lights on a while back, but will be wiring them this weekend... So I could also use the ideas!

I ended up running the wires from each light back to the cab in the crack between the light mount and the window hinge. the wires came into the cabin about where the top of the dash speakers are. I then ran the wire from the cab to the battery using the rubber plug pass through next to the exsiting wires. I mounted he off road light switch below the steering wheel on the right side next to the rear wiper switch. My lights are for offroad us only and are isolated from the headlights. They can be turned on with or without the ingnition switch on. I have dual batteries and ran the power supply wires to the second deep cycle battery for use if the engine was not running. Don't have a digital camera to post photos.

Hope this is helpful to another doing the same project. Spiritree

I did mine a bit differently...

I ran the cables through the hinge gap in the windshield same as you, but instead of bringing them in to the cap, I used the hole through which the wiper motor comes out of, and went directly behind the dash. On the passanger side, I made a hole just big enough to pass the wires in the same way. From there, I also used the ruber plug, and connected o the battery.

Since I do not have any rear wiper, I used the speace where such a switch would have been mounted, but I did tie in the lights to my brights (I figured I would most likely have the brights on anyway when I use them) using the supplied relay.

I am happy to say that my lights are working great, and that the are VERY bright; they were not joking when they called these lights DAYLIGHTERS! I will not be using them for on-road, as any oncoming driver would be blinded at a very respectable distance... But they work GREAT for offroading!

Well, unfortunately for me, there are no good trails near Miami; just lots of muds. And since I do not have a snorkel (not yet anyway!!! HEHEHE!!!), I have no plans to get my jeep into any mud (I have seen too many engines die as a result of water injestion!).

But once I get the lift kit in (one or two months from now), and when I am a little more upgraded (maybe the lockers and new gears will be enough), I do plan to drive up to NC and hit some trails...

Hope you get to the trails before I do!

Well when your ready and if you get this way we have a few hill in Utah that are great fun and a test for all types of rigs. Let me know and we could set up a tour. Spiritree
