Day three: Strike Ravine – Rated 5
Like many trails near the Moab rim this trail starts of with a very steep and rocky climb which is rugged but passable by most stock 4x4’s. Lifted vehicles could pass on their own but a broken axel or hub may make it difficult to exit on your own. Better to travel this one in at least pairs. Most of the trail has steep sections of slick rock strewn with fallen rocks and rubble. Their was some sections of sandy trail but not enough to make dust a nuisance. Most of the day was spent picking your way over average size boulders and an occasional obstacle that proper tire placement was necessary not to wind up on a strap. This is an absolutely beautiful trail traveling into a canyon type ravine, traveling along it for a while and then exiting out in a different location( We exited at AREA BFE and caught a glimpse of Full Traction’s rock crawler in action). The day went smoothly and took about four hours traveling time. Parts of Upper Heldorado can be reached from this trail also.
