i have just recently put a rough country three inch lift on my Xj and i know have vibrations in the drive shaft. i was wondering what i could do to get rid of the vibrations within the drive shaft. i also have a significant amount of vibration in the steering wheel when i go above 50 mph. i had this problem before the jeep was lifted but now it seems to be magnified. i was wondering what i could do to solve this problem also? the kit came with lift blocks, add a leafs, and front coil springs. and in the steering wheel when i go about [addsig]

U-joints are a good place to start. Jeeps have a tendency to have a vibration in the drive shaft because of the slip yoke. slip yoke elimintor kits or even slip yoke extender kits are available. It could even be something really simple like some tires out of balance. Did you put bigger tires on it?? also check for caked mud inside your rims. Mud can make a horrible vibration. one other thing to look at thats simple is your tires themselves. A tire thats seperating or that has a bubble can cause some nasty vibs. Well those are the few things that I can think of right now. Good luck[addsig]

i have yet to check the u bolts, but what about a transfer case lowering kit? would that work, and what should i do about the front vibration, i think it may be called bump steer? not sure[addsig]

Rough country is on my YJ and I do in deed love it. Mine came with a transfer case drop and I used it and it is good. Now when I droped the transfer case it cause the motor mounts to bind up and I replaced them and slid the transmission mount all the way forward to allow extra room. this stoped all my vibs. Just loosen the transmission mount bolts at the bottom of the skid and use a pry bar to slid it forward. Check you motors to see if there is any metal on meatal contact. Good luck tug.[addsig]

i don't think this will take care of the front end. when i go above fifty the entire front end shakes really bad, before the lift i could drive through it and it would stop at sixty but now it is so bad that i dont' want to go any faster, what could this be. becasue i don't think it has to do with the transfer case?[addsig]

i had the same exact problem with my 97 XJ when i put a 3" lift on it from rusty's. i've actually been trying to fix the problem and you can read some of the solutions everybody came back under "General Chat: Cherokee Lift Question... help!". i think the t-case drop (1/2 inch) is gonna be the best bet... easy too. does your name (xtremski38) refer to snow skiing? if so... where do you live/ski?[addsig]

yes it does and i live in connecticut, but i have heard that the t-case drop will only take care of the driveshaft, not my front problem. what can i do about that

somebody already suggested this... but simply having your tires re-aligned or putting a beefier steering stabilizer on could help.
