FYI: I had this done about a year ago... Took it to the stealership for the work... On the way home, my Jeep died in the middle of a very busy street... Just cut out, all guages went to zero state, engine died, everything... I cranked the motor and did about everything I could think of to get it started... I had just given up hope and, in frustration, mashed the e-brake to the floor in preparation for an embarrassing walk and, presto, everything was back!!! I started up the Jeep, drove back to the dealer, and was summarily told it couldn't possibly be the work they did... So, I left frustrated... Not something the dealership should be striving for, IMHO... Drove it for a few days (about a week or so) and everytime it would cut out, I could bring it back with a press of the E-Brake... Finally, Got my old man over to my house for a debugging session (he's an electrician)... We ran the wires and LO AND BEHOLD, there is a ground wire that is supposed to be held on by the same bolt holding, you guessed it, the e-brake... Hooked it back up and, viola, everything was fine...
Also, I would talk to your insurance company about the damages to the S-10... This recall has been out for about 2 years... Maybe DC could pay the tab for you... Worth checking on... I found out about the recall from a government website (don't remember which one)... I called DC about it and they said "There is no such recall"... That is a quote, mind you... Amazingly enough, 2 weeks later, the recall notice arrives in the mail... What a coincidence...
