YJ E-brake recall

Have many of you YJ owners got the recall notice on the emegency brake pedal? It is prone to self-releasing and the dealer will do a free fix. I got my notice about 3 months too late, as mine popped in a parking lot and hit a chevy S-10. Barely did any damage, but dinged up my tailgate and cost me an insurance claim for the Chevy. Just wanted to post this to make anyone who is not aware, aware! They will release, trust me!

haha just like yours wouldnt work last weekend at the end of the run lol

Yeah, It released like 5 months ago, I got the notice 2 months ago, still haven't taken it in for service. Maybe they'll adjust it while it's in there!

FYI: I had this done about a year ago... Took it to the stealership for the work... On the way home, my Jeep died in the middle of a very busy street... Just cut out, all guages went to zero state, engine died, everything... I cranked the motor and did about everything I could think of to get it started... I had just given up hope and, in frustration, mashed the e-brake to the floor in preparation for an embarrassing walk and, presto, everything was back!!! I started up the Jeep, drove back to the dealer, and was summarily told it couldn't possibly be the work they did... So, I left frustrated... Not something the dealership should be striving for, IMHO... Drove it for a few days (about a week or so) and everytime it would cut out, I could bring it back with a press of the E-Brake... Finally, Got my old man over to my house for a debugging session (he's an electrician)... We ran the wires and LO AND BEHOLD, there is a ground wire that is supposed to be held on by the same bolt holding, you guessed it, the e-brake... Hooked it back up and, viola, everything was fine...

Also, I would talk to your insurance company about the damages to the S-10... This recall has been out for about 2 years... Maybe DC could pay the tab for you... Worth checking on... I found out about the recall from a government website (don't remember which one)... I called DC about it and they said "There is no such recall"... That is a quote, mind you... Amazingly enough, 2 weeks later, the recall notice arrives in the mail... What a coincidence...

Got mine fixed, and they adjust the ebrake some while they're at it. 'Bout the only time I'll let the Stealership wrench on my jeep

According to a service tech, this is the ONLy recall for my YJ. I was surprised. I figured we would have all sorts of recalls.-al

if my Ebrake worked, i would go in and get it taken care of... but i see no sense in making sure a pedal stays down, if it doesn't do anything while it is down

I got the notice, had the e-brake work done. Of course while they had my jeep in for the free service, they found all sorts of other work that "needed" to be done too!
They did install a whole new e-brake, but now the little red light does not come on to remind me that the brake is on, so of course on many occasions I have accidently driven off with the e-brake engaged for a bit, till I notice it is on.

You gotta hate dealerships! I'll take mine in someday. Too busy right now, I just turn the wheel to the curb and put her in gear. Of course, I do have the 2 token bricks in the driveway for wheel chocks!

would this e-brake recall apply to my old 89 YJ?? seems like it would'nt. it seems WAAAAAYYYY too old and abused to ever seem a dealership. i think it would be shunned if i took it in. :D :D

Actually my front brake hoses were rubbing on the fender skirts.....turns out it's a recall for new skirts and front brake hoses. going tomorrow!!
