Yj lift help!!!

i bought a 95 jeep and it has no links. The person who owned the jeep prior had a lift already installed and it is all jacked up. i believe it is a 3 inch lift. I just ordered a new 2 inch lift for the jeep but i am not sure if i need extended links or regular links. any suggestions?

Those shackles are too long take those off and find some stock ones.
That's not safe!
 
pretty sure you dont have to extend anything for a 2 inch suspension lift. you do really need to get new shackles. if you're doing a body lift you will have to extend some parts. i put a 2.5 in suspension on mine with extended brake lines, but my lines were trash so it made sense
 
sounds good guys. ima look into fixing these shackles . im new to the jeep world. wish i woulda bought one that hadn't been played with so i new what i was working with
 

Just put a rc 2.5" lift on a 95 yj and used the stock shackles, the only mod was dropping the transfer case down 1" everything seems to be fine at the moment.

X2, ditch the shackles.

also the mossing links are for the trac bar and sway bar, ditch those too, really no need for them.
 
ok that sounds good . Now one more concern. My jeep wont hit past 60 miles. It feels as if the governor wont let it go more. you can keep pressing down but it just wont accelerate past that. And driving in a highway, once you go up a hill it just isn't getting the force to make it. its struggling. any ideas?

If it's a 2.5l like mine up hill will make them struggle, not sure about the not going past 60 mph though. On the expressway I was able to maintain around 70ish until the hills present themselves, lol!

Also what size tires are you running? I went with a 31x10.5 just because I felt like the 33's would be to much to lug around keeping the rear stock and it being a 2.5L

I got a 2.5L on 31s and I got the same problem! Wide open I can hit 70 but not much faster than that!! You should see me try to get up the high rise everyday for school... Lol

I Could imagine, next mod I'm thinking about is electric fan, a guy I work with did the mod on his 2.5l and said it made a big diff in power and of course header wouldn't hurt either.
 

lol ok sounds like we are all on the same boat. i have 35s on mine. do you guys know where the front links attach to? maybe post a picture so that i can see.
 
Any time you find a cheap Jeep it's a 2.5. I've never run a 2.5 .I like the 258 4.2 and the 242 4.0 I had a 225 then dropped in a 231 that was a v6.
You guys will need to do proformance mods and maybe 4:56 gears.
 
the sway bar links should attach to the spring plates, If I were you, I would just remove the sway bar all together.
 

I just looked at the pics, and the sring plates on your jeep are either 1. not original 2. the mounts were removed.

I do not see the mounting point, pull the sway bar off; you will have to loosen the steering box from teh frame to get the driver side sway bar mount off.
 
i pulled mine for a few days when the mounting point snapped off. it rolled a little too much for me on the turns and highway. i live in a high wind area and i like the vehicle to feel a little stable in a cross wind and with no sway bar, it rolled way to much for my comfort. the trac bars i tossed a long time ago though but that front sway is here to stay.

you know there are a few different diameter sway bars, right? if you keep yours, make sure you get the right size bushings for the frame mounts or you will get a tapping when you go over bump and turn certain ways from the bar banging around in its mounts
 

the sway bar links are going on. i also need to fix the pitch of the driveshaft before i bust it again. money. money money.
