Youll probably have to shorten the driveshaft, I had to when I swapped in my dana 44.

Usually if if a seal is leaking either the seal is bad or the bearing is bad which causes the seal to be bad.

Ive got a 401 in mine but thats far from the biggest ever installed in a cj.

Its a '78 cj-7. Ive already got the matching rear installed, I will have to outboard the front springs plus rotate the c's to make it work.

Not sure about the linkage but could the shifter be raised some. I guess Im thinking of a cable shifter. What Im picturing is a console between the seats and a 6-8" box in front of the console that the shifter sits on.

I still dont understand the whole engaged or disengaged discussion. On a yj there arent any lockout hubs so that means the driveshaft has to turn unless there is a "pinion" disconnect. The actuator fork mentioned before simply disconnects the passengerside axle from itself for easier steering...

I think its a high rev oiling problem also.

The best thing to do is to get the pump. Screws right to the jug, put the clear hose in the fill hole and pump. It is slow though, 80-90 wt oil is thick.
