    jeep carburetor

This was the first time I had heard of this nutter thing so i looked it up. I should have looked it up a long time ago. I bought two different distributors (around $175) to fix the timing situation when i could have fixed it with $2 worth of wire and connectors. Oh well, one more lesson learned...

yj lift WHAT SHOULD I GET

I'm SOA with 35s and have plenty of room. Rubicon express makes a SOA kit for around $300 w/o shocks or if you are good with a torch and welder you can get spring perches and shock tabs from fab places and do it yourself for alot cheaper. I would go back to original springs though, if you don't...

    Electric fan

Thats the switch that runs the relay. Get your alterator tested. Its probably more like 60 amps if its the stock unit but it shouln't drop to 9 volts just from headlamps and foglights. I put a high output alternator in mine from a gm car but i had to fab some brackets for it and rewire it so its...

    Electric fan

It didn't cost anything because i scavenged the fan off of a piece of construction equipment that was getting scrapped. It is an aftermarket style fan that you can pick up at most parts stores. If you want to mount in front of the rad make sure that the fan can be used in both directions. Most...

    Gas addative

Yeah sea foam is like miracle juice, any time a carb starts acting a little funny i always grab that stuff first.

    Electric fan

There is also room in front of the radiator for a fan. I put one there just for additional cooling on trail runs. I would definitely use a relay, another thing you can do is run a temp switch in a coolant passage to control it, then it comes on automatically when your coolant hits a certain temp.

Heim joints vs. tapered rod ends

Heim joints vs. tapered rod ends

I have a yj that i swapped in dana 44s and went spring over. Now i need to build a drag link for it. I know that the big time wheelers are using heim joints as their steering joints and i was wondering if it is something i should use on mine. I run 35s and it is only steet driven a little bit...

    jeep carburetor

I should have also mentioned that when you get rid of the feedback carb setup you will end up wit about 9000 wires and vacuum hoses that suddenly become unnecessary but some of them will need to be retained. I am a mechanic and it wasn't bad for me but if you are mechanically inept you should...

    AX15 bolt pattern ?

    Well that clears up everything!!!

    Qtrac YJ

Yeah i agree that my steering setup is a little sketchy but i don't plan on making it permanent. My bosses snow plowtruck has flattop knuckles and it has 1 foot in the grave so i will get those before it gets junked. My budget was too tight to do everything right on the 1st try and this setup...

    Qtrac YJ

OK so i started with my 90 YJ, 258 eng, ax15,stock dana 30 front and d35 rear. I bought this thing out of York PA (14 hrs from here) with a burnt piston for $1500, hauled it home and overhauled the engine. While I was at it I got rid of the feedback carb because i hate feedback carbs and...

cj-5 . what new automatic trans is best?

Pinion angle isnt bad at all because the qtrac tcase has the rear output offset to the right and they also drop it down about 4".

    jeep carburetor

I have a 90 yj 258 that probably was the same carb. I wanted to get rid of all the feedback stuff so I got a rebuilt carb for a 78 cj from napa. It bolted right up but then the computer wouldn't control the timing correctly without the right carb so i went with one of those hei distributor...

    AX15 bolt pattern ?

So I'm confused, is the bolt pattern the same or different from a 258 to a 4.0 litre? I was considering doing a stroker for my 90 with a 258 in which case i will need a 4.0 block to bolt up in its place.

    Almost done sort of!!!

Well the jeep finally came out of the garage under its own power for the first time since september. Its been kind of a neat build. Last fall my cousin came across a 79 cherokee that he wanted to buy for its 360 engine so he could put it in his cj5. I did some research and found that these...

    The new JK's?

I absolutely hate the minivan motors that they are putting in those things.

cj-5 . what new automatic trans is best?

I think quadratrac was only available in cj7s. I just swapped a quadratrac driveline from a 79 cherokee into my 90 yj. It uses a gm Turbo 400 with an AMC bellhousing bolt pattern. I kept my 258 in its stock location and the rear driveshaft is 18" long @ center of travel. Since a cj5 is 10"...

It finally gets to see the the light of day!!

After a full driveline swap and not moving since September the yj finally gets to come out of the garage. It started out pretty stock, just a lockrite in the rear, home made shackle lift and 31" mudkings. My cousin and I bought a 79 Cherokee because he wanted the AMC 360 engine it had. After lo
