Jeep body mounts - rubber or poly?

I need to do all my mounts and I definately want to use the factory type rubber mounts. I want the quiet flex they offer. I've experienced the nastiness of poly mounts. They take a beating...and save a good bit of it for you to sample.

How to figure out what gear ratio I have

The driveway check is to put a mark on the driveshaft you can see from the side, and a mark on the tire where it touches the ground. Roll the jeep,in neutral, by hand, one revolution of the tire and count how many times the driveshaft rotates. Four revolutions and a little more is stock for the 2.5L

What is it and do I need it?

I've had two YJs with the vacuum actuated axle. The 87 was frozen up through non-use due to the vacuum lines being disconnected and tied up out of the way during earlier bodywork. Sourced a used one from a junkyard($20) and reconnected the vacuum lines and it has performed flawlessly ever since...

    CJ coolant flow

The end of the thermostat with cylindrical housing with the temp rating stamped on it goes in toward the head. When it gets up to temp, that housing and the valve move inward, unseating the valve and letting the hot coolant flow around it and out of the head toward the upper tank. You wont see...

New Owner of a YJ Lots of Questions.

The 4 cylinders are good little motors but not a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination. They don't get any better by adding any kind of bolt-on performance equipment, either. You would have to do some serious work to the 2.5L in order for it to take any advantage of a C.A.I., headers or...

    Uh....oh....!

The "coil" is the thing that is about the size of a soda can on the engine with a big wire coming out of the center and two little wires on either side of the big one. It makes the high voltage spark that fires the fuel to make the engine run.

Never seen it. Not going to, either. My wife says it's all over her facebook friend's junk but it reminds her of this...

    90 YJ rough start 2.5l

Have you looked inside the distributor cap? Could be gunked up or baked enough to throw misdirected or weak sparks that the F.I. has a hard time compensating for.

    LubeLockers

I convert to lubelockers any time I open up a pumpkin now. They are fantastic. You got to make sure your cover is flat, though. Nothing will seal a beat up cover that has the bolt holes caved in.

whats the best carburetor to use for off-road use?

I'll always take an old Rochester Quadrajet for off-road. The centrally located float bowl keeps the tipsies away. The only trick to them is following ALL the adjustment steps on the carb kit instruction sheet and using the specs for your particular carb number. One off a 70s blazer/PU with a...

Pretty sure I got ripped off

I worked in a custom gun shop with the same BS setup. You're getting hosed and the owner is laughing all the way to the bank. Ask for $10 per hour straight time and I'll bet he says no. You don't have to wonder why. My deal was $12 per "book" hour and when I asked for $8 straight time like...
