    Several (related) Steering Problems

For anyone searching this thread, I thought I'd post the results. I pulled the shafts out and it was indeed a seized u-joint. I can't bend the joint at all, it's stuck pretty good. All of the lubricant had also dried out of the spindle bearing on one side and it was missing needles and grinding.

would there be any detrimental effects in taking the axles out and driving to Texas equipped as such?

Startiing a new club on Campus

A certain percentage of each student's tuition goes into a fund which is then distributed among all the clubs based on membership and financial need. There is a storage facility off campus owned by the Institute which we could store the vehicle in and on campus the existing motorsports club has...

Startiing a new club on Campus

I'd like to start a club with the same following and purpose as the existing motorsports club. We've got three club race cars which we all work on and all drive and it's much more fulfilling than just a "bunch of guys getting together and shooting the breeze." Not that shooting the breeze isn't...

    Several (related) Steering Problems

The new parts fixed most of the problem, but I can still feel it in there. I've got to drive me and my girlfriend back to Texas in a few weeks and I really need to get this taken care of. When the hubs are locked, the problem goes away. As soon as I unlock the hubs, the problem comes back...

Startiing a new club on Campus

Hey guys, I need a little bit of advice. I'm looking into starting a new club on campus dealing with 4x4 and offroad and here's what I've come up with so far. It would be easiest (and cheapest) to start the club as an offshoot of the existing motorsports club (whose main focus is racing) with a...

    MC2100 and idle problems

I may be misunderstanding you, but you should adjust the idle mixture screws for peak rpm, then adjust the idle speed to your liking. You may have to do it a couple times, but you should not use the idle mixture screws to adjust idle speed.

    Several (related) Steering Problems

I think it's a little more than a bearing, because it takes just about all my might to get the thing to turn when it sticks good. Recent development. I put it in 4wd and locked the hubs and drove around like that for ten minutes or so, and that fixed it. After this, I think I'm inclined to...

    Several (related) Steering Problems

Yes, it did this before the new rods and ends too. The rods aren't rubbing or anything. I suspected it was the steering box. A second opinion has really strengthened my resolve. Unless anybody else has got anything to say about the ball joints, I'm going to look into getting a new box.

    Several (related) Steering Problems

Alright guys, I'm stumped again, this time dealing with steering. First off, rods and ends are new, so that ain't it. Here's the problems: It gets stuck sometimes. I really have to crank on that wheel to get it unstuck and then it pops out of it and I jerk all over the road trying to regain...

    Vacuum Leak

As far as I know it's legal. Hopefully someone else will be able to answer this question for you, but I haven't had any problems. To go along with the new carb, you will need an adapter plate. Mr. Gasket Part # 1937 and of course random hoses and an air cleaner. You will also need to modify...

    Vacuum Leak

You asking for replacement suggestions? Run a quick search on this board for a motorcraft 2100 or 2150 carb. It's an extremely common, well documented, cheap, and easy swap. I'm running one my self (of the 2150 variety) and I've no complaints. Good luck to you bud.

    4L exhaust....no cat...muffler on headpipe

If I'm reading your suggested reading material correctly, it seems that the guy in post #6 in the second link is confirming Bounty's claim. The engine will experience the best scavenging and the best torque at the point at which the exhaust gases have the highest velocity, which is dependent...

    lift choices

I would run a mild SUA suspension lift from a company like Rubicon Express or Black Diamond Suspension if I were you. Do it right the first time. If you do go the shackle and add a leaf route though. Try to minimize the shackle lift as much as you can and make sure you use full eye to eye add a...

    Local Flooding

Yeah, we got a little bot of Erin here in Corpus Christi, but I'm more scared about Dean now. I heard however that it's headed more towards Mexico maybe now. I hate saying this . . . but let's hope so.

    Valve cover hang up

I'm having valve cover clearance issues due to the increased isntalled height of my new springs. The face on the front of the 4.0 valve cover that slopes downward is interfering ever so slightly with that front most rocker arm from what I can tell. This is preventing the valve cover from seating...

    Tcase exploded

Are you sure his fluids were fine? Because one would think after a catastrophe like this, there would be fluid eeeeeeeeverywhere . . . unless he pressure washed it all off or soemthing for the pics. I don't see anything in there.
