looking into buying an alarm for my jeep, one that has has a shock sencor, and proximity sencor. we've got cats around here so i need the proximity one to be adjustible. anyone have any idea on an alarm i should go with?
none. get tuffy box's and lock it up. put a kill switch in and your good. IF they want it there going to detroy everything to get it. alarm wont help.
i bought a viper alarm at best buy they told me i had to pay installation to even buy the alarm so i toke my handy credit card went on there computers and bought it and picked in store pick up, thats one way to get around paying that install fee hahaI bought a Viper 560XV alarm off ebay (new), as well as a proximity sensor (the DEI 508D) and a garage door interface (DEI 519H) so I can open the garage door with my alarm remote. It works great and I can't say enough good about it. It was $315 including shipping for everything. The kit even came with remote start, but I didn't hook it up.
I don't think you can buy a Viper at best buy, they normally sell them installed, but you can pick them up new on ebay.
I met a guy once who had a real nice TJ. He had a soft top on it and somebody kept cutting it open to get inside. He had an alarm installed with a flashing indicator light mounted in each of the side marker light housings. He never had another break in after that.
The lesson here? Get a flashing blinky light and mount on dash. A lot cheaper than an alarm and just as effective.
If you move the perimeter sensor to the center console and the sensor is a 90* sensor, then it would only capture half the perimeter.
