I took your advice and called Hesco great people. They said that they don't have any cores to work from. they also said the same thing you did and sugested an older cam.If you look at Hesco's cams they mention having to use an older single-groove valve instead of your current triple groove when installing the correct valve springs for an aftermarket cam. This might be what they're talking about. Nothing else changed with the cam.
This means removing your head, which is more involved than a simple cam and spring change.
Do you have oversize tires? Have you considered regearing the axles to restore performance and aid in towing?
There are items marketed as upgrades but none add hp like mechanical changes. A supercharger makes a difference if you could afford it and the other changes.I have thought about regearing this one. The only draw backis I only pull a trailer once in a while. I’m surprised that there isn’t a big enough market forupgrades short of building a stroker.
