Just how black do you need to be to be black?

Well, but a TC version of Rock wouldn't be. And you know what the point of that was.

I do. But if that's the case, then why question his "Tactics"? Black or white he's still a politician.

BUT, and forgive me for hollering,
HE DIDN'T BRING THE ISSUE UP!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS BROUGHT TO HIM!!!!

Like I said, he was answering questions about his ethnicity. If someone were to wake up tomorrow and claim that you were Hispanic, wouldn't you say "No, I'm not?" And by doing so, does it mean you're trying to gain an advantage by clarifying the truth? Are you now playing the race card? NO. You're stating the obvious. You aren't hispanic.
Ahhh, but you see... if I were running for office and someone accused me of not being white, and the media wouldn't leave it alone, then I would use the opportunity to belittle the significance of the color of my skin. I certainly wouldn't go into the pros and cons of skin color. I would quickly hit a talking point of my campaign. I would then address the media, letting them know my disappointment in them for bringing a topic like that into light and challenge them to stick to what matters instead of what might trigger water cooler gossip.

But that's me.

That's because HIS skin color IS significant. For him to suggest it's not significant, would be to suggest that their isn't a problem with racism in this country. Which he doesn't believe, and I hope 99% of this country doesn't either. Instead, he's taking the opportunity to shed light on a very real problem.

Others, call him out for playing the race card.

You only state that the issue of your skin color isn't an issue because you're white. That's like complaining about how your gold shoes are too tight.

Walk a mile in his shoes, and I think you might find that your perception about the equality of our nation is a bit different from what you thought.

I'll be honest, to me it sounds like you and many others are fishing for reasons not to like the guy, as opposed to his political record.

If you disagree with his "Liberal" voting record, fine.

But don't question that interview, it's doesn't have the spin that you put on it in my opinion.

I have in a sense. I got force-assigned to and worked 2 years in Washington DC. I was one of 3 white guys in our crew of 25. My Supervisor was black, and so was his supervisor. Our Union reps were all black.

When I first got down there I was skipped over for overtime, was put in the worst neighborhood, and only one or two guys really talked to me for a long long while. I worked in some real horrible neighborhoods.

But here's the thing... After a while we all got to know each other. Things changed. My boss came to know that I was a qualified tech and an hard honest worker. The other guys in the crew and I got along great after a while. Sure there were a couple guys who gave me the cold shoulder until the time I left but that's to be expected. I was called cracker, country, and a few other things while down there. I caught many a glare too.

What did I do... whine? complain? file a grievance? No. I understood I was among people who talked a little different, looked a little different, and had a few different ways of doing things. I gave it time, and respected the fact that I was an outsider who needed to earn their trust and that in their house I was actually the one who was different.

I learned a lot about prejudice and I learned a lot about myself during those 2 years. I also learned there's a whole lot of black people in this country with conservative beliefs. I look back on that experience very fondly.

I could walk into that garage tomorrow and would be welcomed. I know that.

You see, I never viewed it as unfair. I know well I could either fight it and stay at odds with everyone or I could just do my best and hope in time they warm up to me. It's not like I could quit and there was nowhere to transfer to at the time.

As for Obama, I don't need to look for reasons not to like him. He has presented plenty already. I'll give anyone a chance, no matter what party. You think I'm voting for Guliani if he runs? No way. I'd vote for anyone who is willing to fight/work for a safe, free democracy, and I don't give a rats ass what they look like.

It sure seems like you are fishing for some prejudice to point to. I don't appreciate that. Before you go denying it, why the comments:

You can only be insinuating one thing there. That sucks man :(
Black voters have an able mind, and intelligence to think for themselves. They have the same opportunity to read that article and make a decision as to whether the Obama's were playing the race card or not. It's not like minorities are anymore inclined to blindly follow political rhetoric and propaganda than a Caucasian. Or are they?
Why these comments? You feel you need to explain their equality to me? Or are you as you say... fishing. Again, that sucks.

I cannot be clearer on my feelings about Obama and why. I can not re-iterate what I believe the correct way for he and his wife to have fielded those questions without beating a dead horse.

I am not going to answer the same questions that are asked with different wording, while taking insinuation of prejudice.

Mingez, I usually enjoy a friendly debate with you but I really don't care for your tactic in this one. It's disappointing, insulting, and I'm O U T of this thread.

It does not matter if we have a black, white , or woman demoncrat running for president for God sake! The fact of the matter is he is a demoncrat and we do not need a socialist in office! EVER!

..... and we do not need a socialist in office! .....EVER!

We have a president now that has been leaning towards that path on social issues... you are right IMO, no further left, please:D

Ok, we have some long posts going on. I am hispanic but I have a HUGE problem with the Illegal immigration, even a Member of the Minute Man. don't need to give my job up and mess up the country cause my 9th cuz wants to send money back to Mexico. And I believe the white males, are the most discriminated against. I know everytime I check Caucasion I get crapped on. when I check Hispanic i'm in. and by definition Caucasion includes Hispanic.

That's cool. There were no tactics...kinda like Obama had no tactics. I was just stating what I thought.

And for the record, the only thing I was insinuating there was that you were fishing for things to be critical of because he's a liberal. Not because of his race.

I know you're not a bigot dude, C'mon.
