Over Sized Tires

RE: Re: RE: I

Can I weld oversized rims next to my existing rims and have the new wheels stick off the side?
I dont have the money to get a suspension lift kit or body lift kit,
and I still want oversized tires.
I know the front wheels will not turn(steer) but can it be done?
How much stress will it put on the engine and will the welds hold up to the abuse?
WILL IT WORK?

If you read the rest of the forum I have decided not to weld rims together,
Because I realise how ridiculous this was. Even if you people told me it could have been done I probably wouldn't have done it any way.

And Yes I was serious

No.

If you want to fit oversize tires and can't afford a lift, start cutting sheetmetal.

NOPE

It's a 65' cj-3b(not that that matters). It's a beater.
Now that i think of it cutting shit instead of welding shit will work and is alot less retarded looking!

??

It wont work but if u think u can do it ,go for it. I want some pics posted when your done.

RE: NOPE

So you want to have the two wheels side-by-side....and welded togother. Then put one wide @$$ tire on the two wheels together?

To be honest, it would work if you were a VERY good welder....but I would still never do it. Just buy some bigger tires.

By the way, how wide of tires do you want?

RE: Dieseling on shut down

the existing rim would be like an adapter to mount the new larger tire on to the jeep. Not any particular size tires just larger ones that would not directly mount to the axle.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Front hitch

And I want my headers to exit directly out of my engine compartment thru the hood. I assume I will have to make these as well. I have found web sites with these style headers but no-one that makes them for a f-head

Changing the oil in my tcase

The only thing that comes to my mind is "WHY??????". And headers comin' straight out of the hood on an f-head???????

Let me guess........you're going to name it the "Thunderboltgreaseslapper"

RE: straight style headers?

Why not? the existing muffler is rusted off. It would be cool, Maybe.
I guess Icould just cut of the exhaust right at the end of the headers.

Because i'm a loser and i don't have the money to buy a new exhaust and i don't want to buy one so i figured it would be easier and cheaper to just make them go up instead of back!

Well, you're not a loser......misguided, perhaps, but I don't believe anyone's a loser. Both things you suggested will work.....with a good welder, a little mechanical savvy, and some common sense (optional), you can make ANYTHING "work". Comes back to my question.......Why? Maybe you could trade that Jeep on a tractor or something, then you'll have some really, really big tires and an exhaust you don't have to worry about! And those tractors'll go just about anywhere.

I just thought it would be cool to do. neither of these things are necessary they are just "I wonder if it will work" kind of mods. and they'll look cool in my opinion.

Re: PB blaster and paint.

Well, I apologize for being such a smart-a$$............I get carried away at times. As to your "mods", in the words of an old friend of mine...."whatever blows your dress up!" (or something like that). Good luck.

I take it this thing will not be used on the street? If it is, the welded wheel idea is downright scary. Heck it's scary anyway, but that's even scarier

Really, you can cut alot of sheetmetal if you don't care about the rig. You can also add leaves to the existing spring packs with some cheap springs from a junkyard. You could also do a body lift using hockey pucks and bolts from your local friendly hardware store. DO a web search on cheap Jeep lifts. You'll probably still need different wheels with less backspacing.

I can understand the reasoning behing the exhaust, although I think it would look hateful - but then again if you really just want to run it and don't give a hoot what it looks like then do whatever works. Where it is rusted out? Couldn't you turn the exhaust out the side?

The whole wheel concept scares me, on road or not. Think I'll go clean out my sock drawer and think about it.........
