6" between the holes is 1" of lift. Thats too much, unless you are complimenting a suspension lift. I don't recommend anything more than 1/2" lift with the factory springs. You don't need an inch of shackle sticking out past the holes though. Trim the overall length down some and round the corners on a belt sander or with a grinder.

so 5" between the holes and what a 6" overall shackle? would half inch steel be a good thickness? or thicker/thinner? and how wide should the plate be? remember im gonna be using this applacation on a daily driver.....so yeah id like it to be pretty heavy duty.
