One Texas crack gets you flamed :p :flamethro

I am hiring for a sales manager in 3 of my markets. My God you wouldn't believe the resumes I am getting... I don't know who is polluting the gene pool but Dear God someone take them out!!! I swear the last guy I interviewed was just this side of retarded. Where are these people coming from?!?!?! I can't believe some of the audacity. I had a guy send me a resume, I reviewed his experience and the closest thing he had to executive sales experience was selling shoes at foot locker 6 months ago. He then just showed up at my office and demanded an interview! He was indignant when I told him I didn't think he had the skillset we were looking for, cussed me out and threw his application down and stormed out!!! He actually thought, with no experience, education, or skillset he could go from selling shoes at foot locker to a sales management position for one of the largest media companies in the U.S.!!!! His first question was "can I make more than $9.00 an hour and I sometimes miss days without calling in,... is that going to be a problem?" !!!! The job pays close to $100k a year!!!- sure,... show up whenever you like,... no problem! In fact,... just let me know when you feel like working, no worries,.... Give me a friggin break! This was the worst,... but not by much,... out of the 15 interviews/ resumes 2 have something CLOSE to relevant experience. One woman I think worked on the Ed Sullivan Show!!!! Not that I base my decisions on age,... but she didn't even know what the internet was!!!

I want to know where the farm is that they are breeding these lops!!!

Sorry,... sitting in an airport and just had to rant...

The public (government) school system. Nice..isn't it?

Actually, I think the PC term for retarded is "Developmentally Delayed" now. That means eventually they should be smart enough to tie their shoes on their own in a few years. Other then that.....PLEASE DON'T GET ME STARTED ON STUPID PEOPLE! :x

Oh you only think you have it bad. I work in a borderline fast food italian restaurant and dear god the people that apply there are ridiculous. I hadn't been there 8 months before gettin the offer to become a manager(didn't take cause too many hours with senior year). When an interview shows up i get sent out to just talk to them before the real managers go out to let them know how stupid these people are. My favorite came through drive through:
Girl: So do you get free food here?
Me: We get 10% off nights we don't work and 50% nights we do.
Girl: Oh can you go grab me an application!

When I took a part time job driving commercial for Autozone, the store manager would make judgement calls on people as they handed in applications. More than half of them would get filed in the round cabinet as soon as the manager went into the office.

Something sad is that most of these halftards will get hired somewhere that affects you and me. I have friends who work at Home Depot who I wouldn't hire to pull a leech off my neck. I work construction. My customers are always complaining about our local Home Depot because: A- They are understaffed because the store manager profits by saving man-hours; and B- They hire underqualified people who don't know a single thing about the subject matter of their department. Anyone qualified will be out working in the field, whereas the unskilled ones will accept a lower wage to work and represent the "professional look" of the retailer.

That's why stupid people apply for every job they see open... because they see stupid people working jobs every day

You know, this may be true to a point, but I do get tired of all the problems being blamed on the school systems. You want to know where the problem is? Its the parents. What the heck are the teachers supposed to do, when everytime they discipline a kid, everytime they give a kid a bad grade, mommy and daddy come in screaming and throwing a fit cuz little johnny would never do something like that. And they scream and cuss and threaten to get a lawyer until little johnny gets passed to the next grade anyway.

I realize you didnt accuse the teachers, and trust me, I realize that they're are plenty of problems with the public schools. But at the same time, there are a lot of teachers and a lot of schools out there that try as hard as they can to give kids a good education despite the circumstances.

Again, dont think Im attacking you for making that comment, I'm not. Its just been a long day, and I had to complain about something! :D

I like going to the local Sonic Drive in...place an order, lets say it totals $10.53...hand them 11 bucks and 3 pennies and watch the gears strip in their heads!

The parents are too busy to raise their kids right because they are too busy working 2 or 3 jobs paying for credit card intrest and those new shiny cars out in the driveway of that big house they just had to have.......

True... but thats their own fault, not the kids. Of course I know they'll do like they do for every other problem in this country, blame it on someone else. Its never my fault. Somebody else is to blame.

Can ya tell Im in a great mood today?

Nathan

P.S. I really do hope you dont feel like I'm picking a fight with you. Im not, in fact for the most part I agree with you. Its just my cynical smart-a** attitude showing right now :D

I'm a senior in high school and the idiots(cough i mean friends cough) i see around me everyday are just ridiculous. Part of it is the parents. I have great parents that push me but not over the top, but i know some don't and i've seen kids with crappy parents suceed. Most of the problem is the students. They just don't care. I'm staring around me thinking "where do they expect to ever get in life?" I have friends that haven't read a full book since the 6th grade. Their parents ground them, yell at them, etc. to no affect. In the past week i've read almost 3,000 pages and still had time for work, the mall, the movies. Alot of friends know i have it good at my job and are all the time asking if i'll get them hired. I tell them i'll see what i can do then turn around and wave a big red flag to my managers. Only one has had the work ethic and brains that i strove to get him hired and now we're the 2 best payed and overworked employees there.

Hahaha I love doing that! They look at you with a scared, confused look on their face and then you tell them:

"Fifty cents"

"What?"

"Fifty cents, that's how much change I should get back".

"Oh, right" then they try to to the math in their head - only to look more confused. Finally they fake a look to let you think they actually did a math problem in their head and give you your change.

That is always a riot! It's sad, too, because it's not like it's that hard to figure out... I worked at Subway, and trust me, math is not my strong suit, but even if you are as dumb as a brick, perhaps something should set the flag off in your head that maybe, just maybe, there's a SPECIAL REASON that they are handing you these three pennies...

Here's the best part. Every cash register and PointOfSale system in the world works in the same manner. The amount due is on the screen. That's step one. You enter the amount handed to you. That's step two. Step three is when it TELLS you, flat out, HOW MUCH CHANGE TO GIVE BACK, yet for some reason, when you do hand 'em the three cents, it blows their minds so much that we don't even get to step two, because they're trying to figure out what's going on, what's wrong with you that you are handing them a few pennies, instead of just whipping out a 20, or your Visa.

People scare me sometimes... When I was AKM at O'Charley's, I had to do the primary interview and application process, I'll tell ya, it's terrifying some days. Like a huge building of stupid people just let out for the summer and they have all turned in applications! You want to work in a restaurant, and you cannot spell "kitchen", or "server"... You want to cook, but you look and smell like you just got done dumpster diving. You want a job, but you are looking at the floor or ceiling while I'm asking you questions, I don't think so...

A good education doesnt necessarily change anything. We hired a kid that graduated with en engineering degree from MIT but was some common sense dumb and socially inept that we had to fire him. Thankfully there are jobs like the sonic drive through. Imagine if this kid actually had to do an important job.
