Grasshopper. You are making this waaaay to hard. Get 8x8 cinder blocks and put a piece of wood on top. Then place jackstand on top and position under the frame. Replace the springs eat your wheaties and mount the axels.

Still looking for a yj for my daughter. All I find is 5speeds. Too much for a 15 yr old blonde to think about.
I want to remove the 5speed and replace with auto(999). Will I have to change computers?
I know that I might have to change the input shaft on the transfercase. Anything else I might be missing?
It could be a bad u-joint that ruined the seal. Also check the output shaft on the transfercase. It could bend from the excessive vibration.
The seal replacement is an easy fix.
I agree with redrooster. I have seen a pin hole in the the intake leak gas into the engine and wash out the bearings. Change the cat and hope for the best.
