Boy, us comsumers are stupid. Seems that after Motortrend named the Honda Ridgeline, "Truck of the Year" even when compared to the Dodge Megacab, well even with that very worthy and deserving title.... the sales are sucking and they are cutting production, way back.

That just goes to further prove that these car mags are all bought and paid for by the euopean and aisan automakers. They have made some pretty dumb calls latley, now lets have them explain to us, if it was soooo great, why isn't it selling.

Heck, 3 months ago, the sales had already tanked and they were begging people to bring them $300 to drive off in a lease for $299/mo. That is always a "good" sign for a new model.:purple: :purple: :purple: :purple: :purple: :purple:

Yeah, they are bought and paid for like literary hoes. Consumer Reports is the same way.

yeah, but sometimes you just get so desperate that you need to get yourself a literary hoe.

Umm have you seen the gas prices???? What about other Gm cars with 3000 cash back and a free apple notebook computer... what is that?

To make a brand new pick up and have it named the best buy is very very impressive. The reason its not selling is because of the gas prices and because the rednecks who really use these pick up’s are in love with American cars and wont get into a Honda because its not an American car.

My .02 cents

'Round here they are called patriots, not rednecks.

Retail gasoline is down near $2.10 nationwide. But that should help the little Ridgeline since the very techincal and economic 247 HP V-6 Honda engine should get superior gas mileage over the American gas guzzling V-8.

So where is your reasoning there??

1) I have a Nissan as main car, my mom has a Honda and dad owns an Infiniti. My grandfather owns a 91 altima with 250k miles running strong and grandma another Honda. Before my Nissan I have owned an Infiniti and my family always owned Asian cars. Door handles NEVER fell of ever… although my girlfriend’s new mustang the door panel fell of for no reason. Right now her brand new equinox (05) is going in for service for paint chipping of that cheap plastic excuse for and interior. When I went in to the dealer with her I looked around at some of the new 06 Chevy’s in the showroom and wanted to puke on the interior of some of those cars.

2) Its all over the news that generally SUV sales went down… not to say rigline gets great gas miles. its about only 2 days ago that I see that gas is lower then 2.80.

Those reviews are not biased, how do you figure??? Because you think that they get paid of?? Well wouldn’t any other American company go and pay off the same magazine?

You might have saved 3500 right now, but after doing all the maintenance and resale value on you GM truck you will probably spend more.

By the way Honda’s are maintenance free for the first 110k according to the manual excluding oil changes.

It's not my fault you don't live in Texas and pay too much for gas.
According to Texas Gas Prices Website the nationwide average for unleaded today was 2.23 a gallon.
Ours is 2.14 today.

J.D. Power listed Chevy trucks highest in class for intial quality and dependabily. Why would I spend $3500 to $5000 more just to gamble and bet the Toyota would have better resale value. That is just ignorant and stupid.

Last time I drove by the Honda and Toyota dealerships, they had most of the bays full of cars...In fact there are several import-only repair shops here that do quite well I am told.

Dude, you have been drinking waaaay too much Japanese Kool-aid.

BUY AMERICAN OR MOVE TO JAPAN !!!!!!!!!AND YOU DRIVE A JEEP??????????????????????? HA!

The funny thing is your typing away on your computer that was made in china sitting on your chair that was made in Indonesia and wearing you froot of the loom underwear that was made in Africa…..

USA is going to hell because there is healthy competition for cars company’s? Or is America going to hell because the all American suburban/excursion suked all of the oil out of the ground with its 8mpg driven by some over weight ass hole that cant even see where his car ends eating a big Mack with a litter of cola.

Yes, I do drive a jeep, why? Two reasons: 1 I don’t want to use my 350Z during the winter. 2 I need to tow my YAMAHA and SUZIKI jet ski’s

Personally, I think any new car will last a long time if properly maintained. The technology of today and the close tolerances of engines are incredible no matter where they are made. I simply buy American for one simple reason, and that reason is I want to support companies that base their business here.

Don't bother to post that many US auto's parts are made overseas, as automobiles have stickers on them listing a percentage of which are domestic parts. Even if the best I can get is 80% US made, it's better than buying a foreign car. As for the companies that have "final assembly" here, they are still Japanese products and do not support our workforces like a domestic automobile does.

For those of you who continually buy foreign and think you are saving money, even if you are (debateable) in the short term, the long term effects that foreign cars have had on our economy have been devastaing and the costs show up in other forms.

Sleep well knowing the folks from GM and Ford who have or will be losing their jobs over the next 5 years have people like you to thank.

I'll sleep well knowing my Jeep (95K miles and going STRONG), and my wife's Dodge van (6 years old, never had a problem, and also runs strong) have been well maintained and that they helped some working class guy like myself pay his mortgage or maybe send his kid to college.

When patiotism is lost, countries struggle. It used to be a given that someone in this country did what they could to support it. Well times have been too good for a long time and the citizenry is getting too comfortable. Taking what we have for granted. Taking a good long hard look around it is easy to see we are on a downward spiral. I sincerely hope it does not take another depression or war to snap us out of it, but if history repeats itself it probably will. If that is the case I would bet that then you will see my side of this discussion as the sensible one. Too bad that's what it would take because right now all you can think about is you.

A lot of people don’t live in TX…..

This is right from kbb.com for the 2006 ridgeline.

Every time I drive by dealer ships American or not they all look pretty stocked. But one ford dealer closed down here… Oh well.
Think about what your saying if there, if there is only a FEW of shops then that means there is less of a demand to repair those import cars. Compared to shops that service American cars and those shops are on every corner.

what is your GM truck?

Did anyone happen to notice during Bush's last State of the Union speech his request for Americans to buy American? How long has it been since that has been done? Decades. He is trying to tell you something. Being a "big business" guy I am sure that burned the arses of many of his former business associates and supporters. For him to say that said alot and he did so out of necessity.

It's an american icon. It's a job. It's a taxpayer. It's pride. It's patriotism.

We have a Chevy 2500HD in the family. It pulls freakin' stumps out of the ground like they were made of straw. I drove it in a foot of snow with the comfort of knowing is some yuppie dumbas slid into me driving a Honda Ridgeline, I was not going to be the one hurt.

I dont really know what your trying to say copper.

For you, you might by a car and feel good about buying it because it represents America. For me, I buy something that is the best deal for me and I wont have to take to the shop because it breaks or cry at the pump.

It was kinda funny when we had the last snow storm and my neighbors have both a jeep and a maxima. And the jeep got stock in the snow so they ended up taking a maxima to go to work.

But anyway I love my jeep!

well thats not the story where i am in md, i pulled 8 vehicles out of the snow on my road alone with a stock xj, and you fail to mention wether or not the jeep had 4wd, b/c 2wd in the snow with a light rearend is horrible, and sense the maxima has front wheel, it had better traction, just because you say a jeep got stuck and the maxima was taken, it doesnt help your argument cause there are too many unknowns.
