    locking hubs and differentials

You would actually need a locker in the differential. Locking hubs just lock the hub to the axle where as a locker in the differential gives u positive traction. If you put a locker in the front you wouldnt need locking hubs if you have the front disconnect axle which came with the jeep as long...

    Oil in the distributor

Topics in this forum There is oil getting into the distributor base, but it isnt missing because it doesnt even come close to the rotor and/or contacts. It just started today since I sealed up the vent hole in the bottom of the dist. body when I was waterproofing it. Im guessing that the oil...

    Oil in the distributor

This, to me, is quite strange. Im getting oil in the distributor to the point that it is running down the side of the engine and dripping onto the ground in decent amounts. I myself have never heard of this happening. Has anybody here ever heard of this happening? I was thinking that maybe a...

89 Wrangler with a problem - Who can help?

Red89yj, I did do the nutter a couple months before I did the carb and, in my particular experience, it did do a lot of good for power and mileage. Check your ignition timing with a timing light and if your timing is jumping all over the place like mine was, I'd do the bypass. Hope this helps. od

    engine help-swap???

The 4cyl 5spd wranglers had, i believe, 4.11 gears from the factory which is upgradeable to 4.56 or 4.88 gears without changing the carrier. Those gears would do fine with say a 32-33 inch tire and the 4 banger for mild offroading. Id say, since u dont have the income, put the money into the...

89 Wrangler with a problem - Who can help?

You could swap out your carter carb for a motorcraft which gives you a lot more power an a lil better gas mileage... http://www.tricountyweldingsupply.com/carb/carb.htm Your 89' with the 4.2 has the same ax-15 trans that the newer jeeps with the 4.0's have. It should be an easy bolt-up swap...

    89 yj starting troubles

Did u put any preservative in the fuel tank before u stored it? If not the gas could have lost most of its "punch" and is not igniting. It could also be the fuel pump/filter. Are u getting spark? Fuel? The fact that it starts sputtering when u spray in the starting fluid points to a fuel...
